the automatic photo booth was invented in 1925 it was an
instant hit. Thousands of people each day would line up at the Photomaton Studio in Manhattan, exchanging a quarter for
strip of tiny black and white images. The booths were heavy,
smelly, slow and extraordinarily popular.
Soon they dotted the landscape of all the
amusement parks, boardwalks, train stations and everywhere else
people gather. Some entrepreneurs added wheels and if you were
very wealthy, you could rent one for your soiree.
